The sensing and charging operation aims to provide the HCB territory with sensory components that allow a better perception of the elements that contribute to improving its resilience to climate change, the management of the territory as a whole and, ultimately, understand the use of such components in the planning and management of urban spaces and respective public policies.

In this sense, a set of sensors and actuators will be installed, focusing on different elements with different purposes, which include, among others:

  • A meteorological station in order to provide accurate data on the external environment and which will integrate and reinforce the municipal network, provide calibration of other sensors and allow the analysis of relevant urban phenomena, such as the Urban Heat Island;
  • Radiation sensors to support all operations related to the optimization of renewable energy generation and to assess the impact of different roofing systems on the energy performance of buildings;
  • Soil temperature and humidity sensors to support the management and optimization of the urban agriculture system to be installed on top of the Factory Lisbon building;
  • Sensors based on advanced image processing, with the aim of providing real-time information about the occupation of the Campus and analyzing the respective flow of people;
  • Charging devices and power sockets for electric bicycles and scooters.
